Homework
Homework at Walmley Junior School is designed to be important, manageable and focused on helping your child practise key skills at home. Each task should be completed in short, regular sessions and it is better to aim for consistent effort than long periods of work. Please make sure your child has the materials they need, a quiet place to concentrate and a clear start and finish time, so they can complete the work with confidence. If your child gets stuck, offer calm guidance and support - encourage them to try first, then help them check instructions or examples from class. Remember to celebrate progress, keep expectations realistic and use homework as an opportunity to reinforce learning, build routines and support your child’s independence.
Reading Homework
Children at Walmley Junior School are encouraged to read for pleasure at home. Please listen to your child read regularly and correct any errors. Ask children questions about the text to develop their understanding. Children should log their weekly reading on Page Ticker so that their class teacher can monitor their progress.
Mr. Taylor awards the class with the most weekly logs on Page Ticker with 'Rex the Racoon'. Who will be this week's winner?
Maths Homework
Every Friday, children will be set Maths homework which will be due back in on the following Friday. This could include Times Table practice or developing arithmetic skills.
Spellings Homework
Each week, your child will have a set amount of spellings to learn. Please help support your child learn their spellings so that they can apply them confidently in their writing.
