The Eco Council are pleased to announce that in September 2023, Walmley Junior School achieved a Distinction Green Flag Award for Eco Schools. The children have worked incredibly hard to achieve this, working on projects such as building a bug hotel, planting trees, reusing and recycling and much more.

We work on a range of topics including Biodiversity, Litter and Global Citizenship. This year, our main focus is based on the topics Waste, Transport and Energy and the Eco Council already have many ideas of ways we can help the environment.

Our Eco Councillors and after-school Eco Club participated in a range of different projects to help Walmley Junior School achieve, Bronze, Silver and now the Gold Award for Green Tree Schools with the Woodland Trust.

We are always open to new ideas should friends and family wish to contribute! Keep a look out for our exciting projects going on this year; battery recycling, cutting your carbon and travel tracking to name a few, in a bid to help our school and Walmley become more environmentally aware.
